End-user products => DEEP => DEEP/MPI => Availability

Where DEEP/MPI Executes
DEEP is highly graphical. There are versions of DEEP that work on both Unix-like systems (using Motif) and Windows systems (NT, 95 and 98). DEEP has a very similar look and feel on both types of systems.

In program analysis mode, the DEEP graphical interface can be used on a workstation or PC, while the profiling information files are gathered on a different machine. The DEEP instrumenter runs on the target parallel machine, and the profiling library creates files on the target machine.

For example, you could instrument a large MPI code on a big parallel Unix system and ftp the deep files and your program's source code to a Windows PC to perform the program analysis with DEEP. Or, you could run DEEP directly on the parallel system, or on some other Unix system workstation.

In debugging mode, you must run DEEP on the system where the program to be debugged will be running.
